Moon
What drives you every day
One of the 13 bodies that program your Human Design chart — on the Personality and the Design side.
In Human Design, the Moon programs the driving force: the daily impulse that gets you out of bed and moves you towards your life theme.
Something gets you up every morning even when the day promises nothing. It is not motivation: it is programming. In Human Design it is called the Moon.
Fact sheet
What does this planet program in Human Design?
The Moon programs the impulse. Its gate describes the force that sets you in motion towards your Sun: not the destination but the energy of the journey. Because it completes the mandala every 28 days, it is the body that activates and deactivates your gates most often in transits, and the one that organises the only time-based decision cycle: the lunar authority of Reflectors, who wait a full cycle before deciding anything important. In any type’s chart, the Moon gate says what your fuel is made of.
What does it bring on the Personality side?
The Personality Moon is the impulse you can name: "what moves me is learning", "what moves me is caring", "what moves me is being seen". It is usually what you say when asked why you do what you do. When you are not aligned, that same impulse turns into anxiety: you want to move and do not know where.
And on the Design side?
The Design Moon is the body’s impulse: a need that satisfies itself, often at night or when you are tired and the mind lets go. You see it in what you do "to recharge" even though nobody taught you. Knowing it saves you years of fighting an engine that never switches off.
What does it look like day to day?
A Moon in Gate 9 moves through details and needs focus to feel alive; a Moon in Gate 35 moves through new experience and switches off in routine; a Moon in Gate 27 moves by caring for others and empties out if nobody needs it. Look up your Moon gate in the Library and hold it against your week: most people recognise there their exact way of getting tired and recharging.
How do you train it?
Give it a channel. The Moon needs direction, not discipline: find a place in your week where that impulse can move towards your Sun instead of spinning in place.
Do you recognise yourself?
Tick the ones that ring true. Three or more and this energy is probably yours.
