El dictamen. El progreso. Al príncipe poderoso se le obsequian caballos en gran número, y en un solo día se lo recibe tres veces en audiencia.

La imagen. El sol que sale sobre la tierra: la imagen del progreso. Así el noble abrillanta por sí mismo su propia claridad.

Abajo la tierra, arriba el fuego: el sol saliendo sobre el horizonte. No es el mediodía, que es otro hexagrama, sino el amanecer, el momento en que la luz empieza a subir y todo lo que estaba en sombra aparece. El movimiento es ascendente, tranquilo y sin resistencia: la tierra no discute con el sol.

El Dictamen usa una escena de corte. Un príncipe de provincia recibe caballos del soberano y es recibido tres veces en un mismo día. Los caballos son reconocimiento material; las tres audiencias son confianza. La imagen no habla de conquistar el favor sino de recibirlo por algo que ya se hizo bien: el príncipe sube porque su trabajo lo puso ahí, no porque haya empujado.

Por eso la Imagen prescribe algo que parece interior en un hexagrama tan público: abrillantar la propia claridad. Cuando la luz sube, cualquiera se ve más grande de lo que es, y el clásico avisa que el brillo verdadero se pule por dentro. El progreso sostenido pertenece al que sigue puliendo mientras lo aplauden.

The Judgment. Progress. The powerful prince is given horses in great number, and in a single day he is received three times in audience.

The Image. The sun rising over the earth: the image of Progress. Thus the noble brightens his own clarity by himself.

Earth below, fire above: the sun coming up over the horizon. This is not noon, which is another hexagram, but dawn, the moment when the light starts rising and everything that was in shadow appears. The movement is upward, calm and unresisted: the earth does not argue with the sun.

The Judgment uses a scene from court. A provincial prince receives horses from the sovereign and is granted audience three times in a single day. The horses are material recognition; the three audiences are trust. The image is not about winning favour but about receiving it for something already done well: the prince rises because his work put him there, not because he pushed.

That is why the Image prescribes something so inward for such a public hexagram: brightening your own clarity. When the light rises, anyone looks bigger than they are, and the classic warns that real brightness is polished from within. Lasting progress belongs to whoever keeps polishing while being applauded.

Si preguntaste por un trabajo, una propuesta, una mudanza o un vínculo que empieza a hacerse visible, el oráculo dice que el movimiento va hacia arriba y que no vas a tener que forzarlo.

Pero el 35 tiene una condición escondida en la Imagen. El progreso se sostiene solo mientras seguís puliendo lo que te trajo hasta acá. La escena del príncipe es exacta: le dan caballos y audiencias, y nada de eso lo hizo él ese día. Lo hizo antes, en silencio, cuando nadie contaba.

El error típico tiene dos caras. La primera es la del que llega y se relaja: acepta el ascenso y deja de hacer aquello por lo que lo ascendieron. La segunda es más sutil y aparece en la línea 4, la del roedor: avanzar de a poquito, acumulando ventajas chiquitas y escondidas, empujando en los pasillos. Esa forma de progresar funciona un tiempo y después se cae, porque no tiene abajo nada que la sostenga.

El tercer camino es simple de decir: avanzá a la luz. Que lo que ganás se pueda contar en voz alta. Si te ofrecen más de lo que hiciste, decilo. Si te rechazan al principio, como en la línea 1, no insistas ni te ofendas: quedate sereno y seguí. El 35 premia la calma más que la velocidad, porque el sol no negocia el horario en que sale.

En lo práctico, el hexagrama 35 suele aparecer cuando:

• Te ofrecen un lugar, un puesto o una responsabilidad nueva.
• Algo tuyo empieza a hacerse visible después de mucho tiempo callado.
• Estás avanzando y no sabés si te lo ganaste.
• Buscás reconocimiento y todavía no llega.

You drew 35 and the answer is yes. It is one of the brightest hexagrams in the book: recognition, advance, a door opening. If you asked about a job, a proposal, a move or a bond that is starting to become visible, the oracle says the movement goes upward and you will not have to force it.

But 35 hides a condition in the Image. Progress holds only while you keep polishing whatever brought you here. The scene of the prince is exact: he is given horses and audiences, and he did none of that on the day. He did it earlier, quietly, when nobody was counting.

The typical mistake has two faces. The first belongs to the person who arrives and relaxes: accepts the promotion and stops doing the thing they were promoted for. The second is subtler and shows up in line 4, the rodent line: advancing in small bites, hoarding tiny hidden advantages, working the corridors. That way of progressing works for a while and then collapses, because there is nothing underneath holding it.

The third way is easy to say: advance in the light. Let everything you gain be something you can say out loud. If you are offered more than you did, say so. If they turn you down at first, as in line 1, do not insist and do not take offence: stay calm and keep going. 35 rewards composure more than speed, because the sun does not negotiate the hour it rises.

In practice, hexagram 35 tends to come up when:

• You are offered a place, a post or a new responsibility.
• Something of yours starts becoming visible after a long quiet stretch.
• You are advancing and are not sure you earned it.
• You are looking for recognition and it has not arrived yet.

   Se avanza y se recibe un no. Perseverar trae fortuna. Si falta confianza, mantenerse sereno y generoso; sin falta.You advance and are turned back. Perseverance brings good fortune. If confidence is missing, stay calm and generous; no fault.

   El primer intento no entra. Te dijeron que no, te dejaron afuera o simplemente no te contestaron. La línea no lee eso como un veredicto sobre vos: lee la desconfianza normal del comienzo. Lo que arruina este momento es reaccionar, insistir de más, ofenderse, hablar mal del que dijo que no. Lo que lo salva es la serenidad: seguís haciendo lo tuyo, con amplitud, sin factura. El no del principio casi nunca es el no del final.

   The first attempt does not land. They said no, they left you out, or they simply never answered. The line does not read that as a verdict on you: it reads the normal mistrust of a beginning. What ruins this moment is reacting, over-insisting, taking offence, badmouthing whoever said no. What saves it is composure: you keep doing your work, generously, with no invoice attached. The no at the start is almost never the no at the end.

   Se avanza con tristeza. Perseverar trae fortuna. Llega una gran bendición desde una antepasada.You advance in sorrow. Perseverance brings good fortune. A great blessing comes from an ancestress.

   Estás progresando y sin embargo hay pena: alguien quedó afuera, algo se perdió, el logro llegó tarde o llegó solo. La línea no te pide que finjas alegría. Te pide que sostengas. Y agrega una imagen hermosa: la ayuda viene de un lugar antiguo y materno, algo que ya estaba de tu lado antes de que empezaras. En la práctica suele ser una persona mayor, una herencia de oficio o una parte tuya de hace años. Miralo bien: no estás avanzando solo.

   You are progressing and yet there is sorrow: someone was left out, something was lost, the achievement came late or came alone. The line does not ask you to fake joy. It asks you to hold. And it adds a beautiful image: the help comes from an old, maternal place, something that was already on your side before you began. In practice it is often an older person, an inherited craft, or a part of you from years ago. Look closely: you are not advancing alone.

3. LíneaLine 3 — Todos de acuerdoAll in accord

   Todos están de acuerdo. El arrepentimiento desaparece.Everyone is in accord. Remorse disappears.

   Acá el avance deja de ser tuyo solo: los demás te acompañan. La línea marca el momento en que la confianza que faltaba aparece y lo que hacías en soledad se vuelve un movimiento compartido. No es unanimidad perfecta, es apoyo suficiente. El consejo implícito es no despegarte del grupo justo ahora para lucirte: la fuerza de este tramo está en el conjunto. Si venías dudando de tu lugar, esta línea dice que ya no hace falta.

   Here the advance stops being yours alone: the others come with you. The line marks the moment when the trust that was missing appears and what you did in solitude becomes a shared movement. It is not perfect unanimity, it is sufficient support. The implicit advice is not to break away from the group right now to shine: the strength of this stretch lives in the whole. If you had been doubting your place, this line says you can stop.

4. LíneaLine 4 — El progreso del roedorProgress like a rodent

   Avanzar como un roedor. Insistir en eso trae peligro.Advancing like a rodent. Insisting on it brings danger.

   Progreso de sombra: acumular ventajas chiquitas, ocupar espacio sin que se note, roer de a poco lo que no te dieron. El clásico usa el roedor porque come mucho y de noche. Funciona un tiempo y por eso engaña. El peligro no es moral, es estructural: lo que conseguiste así no tiene base y se cae cuando alguien enciende la luz. Si te salió esta línea, revisá qué parte de tu avance no podrías contar en voz alta.

   Shadow progress: hoarding small advantages, taking up space unnoticed, gnawing bit by bit at what was never given to you. The classic uses the rodent because it eats a lot and at night. It works for a while and that is what makes it deceptive. The danger is not moral, it is structural: what you got this way has no base and falls the moment someone turns on the light. If you drew this line, check which part of your advance you could not say out loud.

5. LíneaLine 5 — Sin ganancia ni pérdidaNeither gain nor loss

   La mejor línea del hexagrama y la más difícil de vivir. Estás en el lugar de la luz y el consejo es dejar de contar. No mires el marcador: cuánto ganaste, quién te reconoció, qué te falta. Esa cuenta es lo único que puede frenarte ahora. La línea autoriza a emprender con las dos manos, y aclara que la fortuna viene justamente de la falta de cálculo. Hacé lo que corresponde y dejá que el resultado se acomode.

   The best line of the hexagram and the hardest to live. You are standing in the light and the advice is to stop counting. Do not watch the scoreboard: how much you gained, who acknowledged you, what is still missing. That tally is the only thing that can stop you now. The line authorises you to undertake with both hands, and makes clear that the good fortune comes precisely from the absence of calculation. Do what is right and let the outcome settle itself.

   Avanzar con los cuernos solo sirve para poner orden en la propia ciudad. Ser consciente del peligro trae fortuna; sin falta. Insistir trae humillación.Advancing with the horns serves only to set your own city in order. Awareness of the danger brings good fortune; no fault. Insisting brings humiliation.

   Última línea: el avance llegó a su tope y lo único que queda es la dureza. El clásico la permite para un solo uso, corregir lo propio. Contra afuera es humillación; hacia adentro es disciplina. En concreto: si algo no funciona en esta etapa, no salgas a exigirle al mundo; ordená tu casa, tu equipo, tu método. Y hacelo sabiendo que estás al borde. La conciencia del riesgo es lo que convierte esta línea dura en una línea útil.

   Last line: the advance has hit its ceiling and all that remains is hardness. The classic permits it for one use only, setting your own house in order. Aimed outward it is humiliation; aimed inward it is discipline. Concretely: if something is not working at this stage, do not go out demanding from the world; sort out your home, your team, your method. And do it knowing you are on the edge. Awareness of the risk is what turns this hard line into a useful one.
