La imagen. El movimiento del cielo es vigoroso y no se interrumpe. Así el noble se hace fuerte e infatigable.

El 1 es el único hexagrama formado por seis líneas enteras: cielo arriba y cielo abajo, yang puro, sin una sola grieta de yin. El calendario chino lo ubica en el cuarto mes, cuando la luz llegó a su máximo y todavía nada empezó a declinar. Es la figura del comienzo absoluto: la energía antes de tener forma, el impulso antes del objeto.

La tradición lo narra con un dragón que sube por seis escalones. En el primero está sumergido y no se ve; en el quinto vuela en el cielo a plena vista; en el sexto se pasó de altura y tiene de qué arrepentirse. El dragón no es un monstruo: en China es el animal del agua y de la lluvia, la potencia que fecunda. Cada línea pregunta lo mismo desde una altura distinta: ¿este es tu momento de mostrarte?

Por eso la Imagen no promete triunfo, prescribe constancia. El cielo no se esfuerza a los saltos: gira sin parar, todos los días igual. La fuerza creadora del hexagrama 1 no se demuestra en un arranque brillante sino en la capacidad de sostenerlo sin agotarse.

The Judgment. The Creative: origin, expansion, benefit and steadfastness. It works far-reaching success, prospering through steadfastness.

The Image. The movement of heaven is unceasing in its strength. Thus the noble person becomes strong and tireless.

Hexagram 1 is the only one built from six unbroken lines: heaven above and heaven below, pure yang, without a single crack of yin. The Chinese calendar places it in the fourth month, when light has reached its peak and nothing has begun to decline. It is the figure of the absolute beginning: energy before it has a form, impulse before there is an object.

Tradition tells it through a dragon climbing six steps. On the first it is submerged and unseen; on the fifth it flies in the open sky; on the sixth it has gone too high and has cause to regret it. The dragon is not a monster: in China it is the animal of water and rain, the power that makes things fertile. Every line asks the same question from a different altitude: is this your moment to show yourself?

That is why the Image promises no triumph and prescribes constancy instead. Heaven does not strain in bursts: it turns without stopping, the same every day. The creative force of hexagram 1 is proven not by a brilliant start but by the ability to sustain it without burning out.

Por eso el oráculo dedica el hexagrama entero a una sola pregunta práctica: en qué escalón del dragón estás parado hoy, y qué corresponde hacer en ESE escalón y no en otro.

En la vida concreta se ve enseguida. Alguien con una idea recién nacida que ya está grabando el video de anuncio: está en la línea 1 actuando como si fuera la 5. Alguien que hace años hace un trabajo excelente y todavía no se anima a cobrarlo ni a nombrarlo: está en la 5 comportándose como en la 1. Alguien que ya llegó y sigue subiendo porque no sabe frenar: está en la 6.

El error típico del 1 es leerlo como una luz verde para empujar todo junto. La fuerza sin momento se convierte en desgaste, y el desgaste con este hexagrama es rápido: no hay una línea blanda que amortigüe. El error opuesto es igual de común: guardar el impulso para siempre, esperando una señal más clara que nunca llega.

El tercer camino que propone el 1 no es más fuerza ni menos fuerza: es ubicación. Fijate honestamente dónde estás en la escalera, hacé lo que ese escalón pide —trabajar en privado, buscar a alguien que ya lo hizo, sostener el día largo, decidir el salto, ocupar tu lugar, o parar— y dejá que la potencia haga el resto por repetición. El cielo no se apura y llega siempre.

En lo práctico, el hexagrama 1 suele aparecer cuando:

• Estás por lanzar algo tuyo: un proyecto, un negocio, una obra, una decisión que nadie tomó por vos.
• Tenés más energía y más claridad que de costumbre y no sabés dónde ponerla.
• Te ofrecen o te toca un lugar de referencia y dudás si te corresponde.
• Venís empujando hace rato y empezás a notar el desgaste.

You drew 1 and the question was about something you want to start, launch or claim as your own. The answer is blunt: the force is there and it is yours. You are not short on capacity, permission or talent. This hexagram does not argue about that for a second.

What it does argue about is altitude. Six unbroken lines and no yin support means power with no counterweight: nothing holds you back and nothing holds you up. So the oracle spends the whole hexagram on one practical question: which step of the dragon are you standing on today, and what does THAT step ask of you rather than another one.

In real life it shows immediately. Someone with a newborn idea already filming the announcement video is on line 1 acting like line 5. Someone who has done excellent work for years and still cannot name it or charge for it is on line 5 behaving like line 1. Someone who already arrived and keeps climbing because they cannot stop is on line 6.

The typical mistake with 1 is to read it as a green light to push everything at once. Force without timing turns into wear, and with this hexagram wear is fast: there is no soft line to cushion it. The opposite mistake is just as common: storing the impulse forever, waiting for a clearer signal that never comes.

The third way hexagram 1 offers is neither more force nor less: it is placement. Look honestly at where you are on the ladder, do what that step asks — work in private, find someone who has done it, hold the long day, decide the leap, take your place, or stop — and let the power do the rest through repetition. Heaven never hurries and always arrives.

In practice, hexagram 1 tends to come up when:

• You are about to launch something of your own: a project, a business, a body of work, a decision nobody made for you.
• You have more energy and clarity than usual and do not know where to put it.
• A position of authority is offered to you and you doubt whether it is yours to take.
• You have been pushing for a while and the wear is starting to show.

   La fuerza ya está, pero abajo, donde nadie la ve y donde todavía no tiene forma. Es la etapa de la idea que te entusiasma y que no conviene anunciar. Si la contás demasiado pronto, la gastás en la conversación; si la mostrás sin terminar, la juzgan por lo que le falta. Lo que corresponde acá es trabajarla en privado, sin pedir opinión ni permiso. No es esconderse por miedo: es dejarla crecer sin público. El momento de mostrar viene en la línea que sigue, no en esta.

   The force is already there, but underneath, where nobody sees it and where it has no shape yet. This is the stage of the idea that excites you and should not be announced. Tell it too early and you spend it in conversation; show it unfinished and it gets judged for what is missing. What belongs here is working on it in private, asking no one for an opinion or permission. This is not hiding out of fear: it is letting it grow without an audience. The moment to show comes on the next line, not this one.

   You have come to the surface and people are starting to see you. You are not in charge of anything yet, but you exist for others now: you showed the work, you said out loud what you do, someone introduced you. The line adds a precise instruction: find whoever has already walked this road. Not to be sponsored, but to be calibrated. At this altitude the biggest accelerator is not trying harder, it is being near someone whose judgement steadies yours. Ask for that conversation even if it embarrasses you.

   Esta es la línea del que ya asumió la responsabilidad y todavía no tiene la estructura para sostenerla. Producís todo el día y a la noche la cabeza no para. El texto es notable porque dice peligro y sin falla en la misma frase: el desgaste es real, pero no estás haciendo nada mal. Lo único que te pide es no confundir la inquietud con una señal de fracaso. Sostené el ritmo, cuidá el sueño, no agregues proyectos nuevos y esperá a que el escalón termine.

   This is the line of someone who has taken the responsibility and does not yet have the structure to hold it. You produce all day and at night your head will not stop. The text is remarkable because it says danger and no fault in the same breath: the wear is real, but you are doing nothing wrong. All it asks is that you not mistake the restlessness for a sign of failure. Hold the rhythm, protect your sleep, add no new projects, and let this step run its course.

   Estás en el borde: podés dar el salto o quedarte donde el terreno todavía es firme. La línea es de una honestidad rara, porque no te dice cuál elegir. Dice que cualquiera de las dos está bien si la elegís de verdad. Lo que trae problemas no es quedarse ni saltar: es oscilar meses sin decidir, quemando energía en la duda. Poné fecha. Si a esa fecha el cuerpo dice adelante, saltá; si dice todavía no, quedate sin culpa y volvé a mirar más adelante.

   You are on the edge: you can take the leap or stay where the ground is still firm. The line is unusually honest, because it does not tell you which to choose. It says either is fine as long as you truly choose it. What causes trouble is neither staying nor jumping: it is oscillating for months without deciding, burning energy on the doubt. Set a date. If on that date the body says go, jump; if it says not yet, stay without guilt and look again later.

   La mejor línea del hexagrama: la fuerza y el lugar por fin coinciden. Estás donde tenés que estar, con la capacidad que hace falta y a la vista de todos. En términos concretos: te toca liderar, cobrar lo que vale, firmar con tu nombre, hablar en primera persona. Lo único que puede arruinarlo es la falsa modestia. Ocupá el lugar sin pedir disculpas y rodeate de gente de criterio, porque desde esta altura lo que te falta ya no es empuje, es buen consejo.

   The best line of the hexagram: force and position finally coincide. You are where you should be, with the capacity required, in plain view. Concretely: it is on you to lead, to charge what it is worth, to sign with your name, to speak in the first person. The only thing that can spoil it is false modesty. Take the place without apologising, and surround yourself with people of good judgement, because at this altitude what you lack is no longer drive, it is counsel.

   Subiste más allá del punto donde tu fuerza todavía servía a algo. Es la línea de la ambición que se despegó de la realidad: expandir el negocio sin gente para sostenerlo, tomar un cargo que ya no te deja hacer lo que sabés hacer, tener razón contra todos hasta quedarte solo. El aviso es amable en su forma y duro en su contenido: nadie te va a frenar desde afuera. Si te salió esta línea, la pregunta no es cuánto más podés sino cuánto de esto todavía te sirve.

   You have climbed past the point where your strength still served something. This is the line of ambition that came loose from reality: growing the business with nobody to hold it up, taking a role that no longer lets you do what you are good at, being right against everyone until you are alone. The warning is gentle in form and hard in content: nobody is going to stop you from outside. If you drew this line, the question is not how much further you can go but how much of this still serves you.
