Gate 29 The Committed Yes
Gate 29 — The Energy of Commitment
In Human Design, Gate 29 belongs to the Sacral Center and forms channel 29-46.
The energy of saying yes to something and sustaining it to the end, even without guarantees of how it will turn out.
Some people, asked 'do you want to join this,' say yes almost without thinking. Then they carry that yes for months, years. Sometimes it falls perfectly to them. Other times they get entangled in commitments they didn't want. That ease of saying 'I'm in' comes from Gate 29. In Aurik Code we call it The Committed Yes. The gate that sustains long projects — but also the one that gets into the most trouble when it says 'yes' without checking the body.
Fact sheet
What does this energy do?
Lives in the Sacral and produces specific fuel: that of perseverance. Gives the person energy to sustain long commitment, without needing to know how it'll end. This gate makes possible getting married, raising a child, building a business, writing a book. Anything requiring years. Wisdom is in what you say 'yes' to — because your body will sustain that to the end.
How does it show up in shadow frequency?
The shadow is automatic 'yes.' The person says yes before checking with their body, and ends committed to things they didn't consciously choose. Other side: 'yes' from guilt or fear. The person accepts to help, join, commit, not from desire but from inability to say no. Result: lives saturated with heavy commitments, without time for what's own.
Examples
- Your cousin asks you to help them with their move. You say yes automatically. You help them all Saturday while canceling your own plan. You end resentful.
- They asked you to be godmother of a project, part of a club's board, volunteer in a foundation, all in the same year. You've been months running from commitment to commitment without enjoying anything.
- At a long table with friends, you said 'yes' to a complex trip. Three months passed, you no longer want to go, but you chained yourself by the initial yes.
And in high frequency?
In High Frequency, Gate 29 checks before saying yes. Facing a proposal, the person gives themselves a few seconds (or days) for the body to respond. If the yes is genuine, they say it. If not, they say no, and that frees both sides. When they say yes, they sustain with strength. Their 'yes' becomes reliable: people know that when this person commits, they fulfill. That reputation is gold.
Examples
- They offer you an interesting but demanding project. Instead of responding immediately, you say 'give me 48 hours.' Two days later your body says clear: yes. You enter with everything. You finish well.
- Your cousin asks for help. In the body you feel today you can't. You tell them 'this time I can't, but I'll help you next.' You fulfill next. The relationship is healthy.
- At a long table you said 'maybe.' Days later you thought and said no. Your yes doesn't devalue itself by always saying yes — gains value when it comes out authentic.
How do you train it?
First: never say yes in the moment. Your new 'sounds interesting, let me let you know' is revolutionary. Your body needs a few hours to process. Second: when checking with the body, do it in silence. Sit, breathe, pose the question. The answer appears as a clear yes or no. If confusion appears, it's no. Third: learn that 'no' is complete. You don't need long explanation. 'This time I can't' is enough.
When do you need it?
This energy is central in any long commitment: marriage, parenting, entrepreneurship, professional training, big move. Anything requiring sustaining years of effort needs well-calibrated Gate 29.
Do you recognise yourself?
Tick the ones that ring true. Three or more and this energy is probably yours.
And if you don’t have it?
If you don't have this gate active, you'll probably struggle more to sustain commitments without external fuel (structure, reminders, pressure). That's not defect — it's information. Building systems that help you fulfill is legitimate. And choosing shorter, more specific commitments can be strategic for you.

The processor of vital energy, work force, sexuality, and reproduction — the engine that ignites the body's life.
The circuit uniting the committed yes with love of body — success that comes from being present and committed in the body.
