El dictamen. La disolución. Éxito. El rey se acerca a su templo. Es propicio cruzar las grandes aguas. Es propicia la perseverancia.

La imagen. El viento sopla por encima del agua: la imagen de la disolución. Así los reyes antiguos ofrendaban al Altísimo y levantaban templos.

Arriba el viento, abajo el agua. La figura es el deshielo: el viento tibio pasa sobre la superficie congelada, la quiebra en olas y devuelve el movimiento a lo que estaba duro. Por eso el 59 pertenece al final del invierno en la lectura estacional del libro. Lo que se disuelve no es el agua: es la rigidez del agua.

La misma figura se lee también como la madera sobre el agua, o sea la barca. De ahí la frase del Dictamen: "es propicio cruzar las grandes aguas". Cuando el hielo se rompe, se puede navegar.

La Imagen manda algo curioso para un hexagrama de dispersión: fundar templos y ofrendar. Es exactamente el remedio. Cuando la gente se separa, se enfría y cada uno se va para su lado, lo único que vuelve a juntarla no es la obligación ni el reproche, sino algo más grande que cada uno: un rito compartido, un propósito común, una casa donde entren todos. El rey se acerca a su templo antes de pedirle nada a nadie. Primero se reúne el sentido; después se reúne la gente.

The Judgment. Dispersion. Success. The king draws near to his temple. It is favourable to cross the great water. Perseverance is favourable.

The Image. The wind blows over the water: the image of Dispersion. Thus the ancient kings made offerings to the Highest and raised temples.

Wind above, water below. The figure is the thaw: warm wind passing over the frozen surface, breaking it into waves and giving movement back to what had gone hard. That is why 59 belongs to the end of winter in the seasonal reading of the book. What dissolves is not the water: it is the rigidity of the water.

The same figure is also read as wood upon water, which is to say the boat. Hence the line in the Judgment: "it is favourable to cross the great water." When the ice breaks, you can sail.

The Image orders something curious for a hexagram of dispersion: founding temples and making offerings. It is exactly the remedy. When people separate, cool off and drift each their own way, what brings them back together is neither obligation nor reproach, but something larger than any of them: a shared rite, a common purpose, a house with room for everyone. The king approaches his temple before asking anything of anybody. First the meaning gathers; then the people do.

La buena noticia es que el hexagrama es de éxito: el hielo se rompe. La incómoda es qué es lo que se rompe. Lo que tiene que disolverse no es el vínculo, es lo que lo dejó quieto: tu posición, el orgullo, la versión de la historia que venís defendiendo. La línea 3 lo dice sin vueltas: se disuelve el propio yo.

El error típico está en los dos extremos. Uno es apretar: reuniones obligatorias, cenas familiares por decreto, el mensaje que empieza con "nunca me escribís". Con el hielo, apretar no derrite nada, parte. El otro es soltar todo y llamarlo madurez: que cada uno haga la suya, total ya está. Eso no es disolución, es evaporación.

El tercer camino es el de la Imagen y es sorprendentemente práctico: ofrecé algo más grande que la discusión. Una fecha, una comida, un proyecto común, un motivo para estar juntos que no sea aclarar lo que pasó. La gente se vuelve a reunir alrededor de algo, no alrededor de un reclamo. Y si el nudo es interno, el mismo movimiento sirve: soltás la tensión saliendo del ombligo, dedicándote a algo que te excede.

Cuando el hielo cede, hay un momento de desorden. Es normal. No confundas ese desorden con un fracaso: es el hielo partiéndose, y suena feo justo antes de dejar pasar la barca. Dale unos días antes de sacar conclusiones. La barca ya está: es propicio cruzar.

En lo práctico, el hexagrama 59 suele aparecer cuando:

• Un grupo, una familia o un equipo se enfrió y ya casi no se junta.
• Venís con un nudo duro adentro y no encontrás por dónde aflojarlo.
• Hay un malentendido viejo que nadie nombra y congela todas las charlas.
• Sentís que hay que empezar de nuevo, pero no sabés alrededor de qué.

You drew 59 and the question is usually about something that went cold: a family that no longer gathers, a team that quietly fell apart, a polite and distant couple, or a knot of your own, that matter you have been carrying hard in your chest for months.

The good news is that the hexagram is one of success: the ice breaks. The uncomfortable news is what breaks. What has to dissolve is not the bond but whatever froze it: your position, the pride, the version of the story you have been defending. Line 3 says it without ornament: the self dissolves.

The typical mistake sits at both extremes. One is squeezing: compulsory meetings, family dinners by decree, the message that opens with "you never write to me". With ice, squeezing melts nothing, it cracks. The other is letting everything go and calling it maturity: let everyone do their own thing, it is over anyway. That is not dissolution, it is evaporation.

The third way is the one in the Image and it is surprisingly practical: offer something bigger than the argument. A date, a meal, a shared project, a reason to be together that is not clearing up what happened. People regather around something, not around a grievance. And if the knot is internal, the same move works: you release the tension by stepping out of your own navel and giving yourself to something larger than you.

When ice gives way there is a moment of disorder. That is normal. Do not mistake that disorder for failure: it is the ice cracking, and it sounds ugly right before it lets the boat through. Give it a few days before drawing conclusions. The boat is already there: it is favourable to cross.

In practice, hexagram 59 tends to come up when:

• A group, a family or a team went cold and barely gathers any more.
• You are carrying a hard knot inside and cannot find where to loosen it.
• There is an old misunderstanding nobody names and it freezes every conversation.
• You feel you have to start again, but you do not know what to gather around.

   The ice is only starting to form and it still breaks easily. This is the line of acting early and fast: the message two days after the argument, the call before the silence settles in.    Todo se está desarmando alrededor y el impulso es huir o quedarse solo rumiando. El texto dice lo contrario: corré hacia el apoyo. Un amigo, un terapeuta, un lugar que te ordena, una rutina que te sostiene. No es debilidad, es método: en el deshielo no se navega solo. La línea promete que el arrepentimiento se va, y se va justamente porque dejaste de aislarte a tiempo.

   Everything is coming apart around you and the impulse is to flee or to sit alone chewing it over. The text says the opposite: run towards support. A friend, a therapist, a place that steadies you, a routine that holds you. It is not weakness, it is method: you do not sail the thaw alone. The line promises that remorse departs, and it departs precisely because you stopped isolating yourself in time.

   La línea central del hexagrama. Lo que estaba duro eras vos: tu razón, tu papel, la necesidad de que quede claro quién tuvo la culpa. Soltar eso no es humillarse, es sacar el tapón. En concreto: dejar de contar la historia con vos de protagonista, hacer algo por el conjunto sin llevar la cuenta. El texto no promete premio, dice "sin arrepentimiento", y con esta línea eso es mucho.

   The central line of the hexagram. What had gone hard was you: your rightness, your role, the need for it to be clear whose fault it was. Letting that go is not humiliating yourself, it is pulling the plug out. Concretely: stop telling the story with yourself as protagonist, do something for the whole without keeping score. The text promises no reward, it says "no remorse", and with this line that is a great deal.

   La línea más alta del hexagrama y la más contraintuitiva. Te pide soltar tu grupito: la camarilla de la oficina, el subgrupo de la familia, la alianza cómoda que te daba identidad. Al soltarla se junta algo mucho más grande. En términos concretos: dejar de defender a los tuyos contra los otros y empezar a pensar en el conjunto. Casi nadie lo hace, y por eso el texto lo marca.

   The highest line of the hexagram and the most counter-intuitive. It asks you to let go of your little group: the office clique, the sub-group inside the family, the comfortable alliance that gave you an identity. Letting it go allows something far larger to gather. In concrete terms: stop defending your own people against the others and start thinking about the whole. Almost nobody does it, which is why the text marks it.

Como el sudor de una fiebre que baja: una frase clara saca lo que estaba adentro y afloja el cuerpo entero del grupo. Puede ser nombrar el propósito común, poner en palabras lo que todos sienten o proponer el plan que nadie se anima. Después, quedate: el rey permanece. Se dice y se sostiene.

   Someone has to say the big idea out loud, and this line says it is you. Like the sweat of a fever breaking: one clear sentence brings out what was trapped inside and loosens the whole body of the group. It may be naming the shared purpose, putting into words what everyone feels, or proposing the plan nobody dares to. Then stay: the king abides. You say it and you hold it.

   Sangre acá quiere decir daño inminente, la herida que se ve venir. La línea autoriza algo que las otras cinco no: irse. No como fuga ni como castigo al otro, sino como cuidado. Si donde estás hay algo que ya lastima de verdad (un vínculo violento, un trabajo que te enferma, una discusión que sube), salir es la disolución correcta. Alejarte no rompe nada: evita la sangre.

   Blood here means imminent harm, the injury you can see coming. This line authorises something the other five do not: leaving. Not as flight and not as punishment of the other person, but as care. If where you are there is something that genuinely wounds already (a violent relationship, a job that is making you ill, an argument that keeps escalating), going out is the correct dissolution. Moving away breaks nothing: it avoids the blood.
